Who is it for?
In order to become a qualified first-aider you must successfully complete a four day First Aid at Work course. The four day First Aid at Work course is an intense course which teaches all aspects of first aid and includes a written and practical exam.
Successful candidates will receive a first aid certificate that is valid for three years.
The course is physically demanding in parts and therefore candidates must ensure that they are physically fit.
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
These Regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or fewer employees and to the self-employed.

Who should attend: A person who has been designated as a first-aider at work. All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to make First Aid provision for their employees.
